About WWLR
WWL RADIO, formerly known as Wrightington Hospital Radio, is a self-supporting charity run entirely by volunteers. We began broadcasting from Wrightington Hospital in 1973 and now reach patients across the Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, as well as listeners online.
Every year we raise funds to cover our day-to-day running costs—insurance, broadcast licences, telephone and broadband being the essentials. Beyond that, we depend on donations and sponsorships to upgrade studio equipment, expand our music library and pursue new projects that help us innovate for our audience.

Sponsorship opportunities
Broadcasting 24/7 directly to hospital bedsides puts us in a unique position to offer sponsorship opportunities to local businesses and organisations. Many patients listen to WWL Radio during their stay and value the company our presenters provide.
We can offer sponsorship of regular one or two-hour programmes. Your support is acknowledged at the start and end of the show, with up to three messages during the programme. It’s a meaningful way to connect with listeners while giving back to the community.

Hire our PA system
From community fairs to Christmas concerts, WWL Radio has provided professional PA systems for countless events. We can supply anything from a compact setup with just two speakers and a microphone to a full-stage configuration for larger venues.
Over the years we’ve supported events including Ogfest, Armed Forces Day and the Lancashire Mining Museum Christmas Carol Concerts. If you need a reliable sound solution, talk to us about hiring our equipment and team.
